    Looking for a creative and healthy lunch for your student? Try a taco bar to-go! Your student will love a break from the PB&J for a customized, build-it-yourself lunch.

    Take a lunch box container and place the tortillas, meat, and other toppings of choice into designated compartments. You’ll be sure to turn your student’s lunch break into a fiesta! 

    The Taco Bar To-Go Lunch

    The Shell
    First, place a hard or softshell tortilla in the largest lunch box compartment. For an even healthier shell, try a multigrain wrap.

    The Meat
    In another compartment, add some fully cooked meat fillings like grilled chicken breast strips. If chicken isn’t your student’s favorite, try a couple slices of deli meat such as turkey or roast beef.

    The Toppings
    Finally, complete the taco bar in the remaining compartments with some of these fresh and delicious toppings:
    -Salsa
    -Pepper jack or cheddar cheese
    -Diced tomatoes
    -Shredded romaine lettuce
    -Guacamole or chopped avocado
    -Sour cream

    Shop for a cause at the Village at Briarcliff. Every third Thursday of the month from 4 p.m. to close, the Village at Briarcliff gives customers the opportunity to give back by donating 10% of all sales to Briarcliff’s chosen charity of the month.

    The Village kicked off this event in August, when customers’ purchases at Design in the City, The Foot Spot, Lillians, Made in KC, Pinot’s Palette, and Jose Peppers helped benefit the Arthritis Foundation. The donations helped the Arthritis Foundation provide the arthritis community with information and resources, access to care, connections in the community, and advancements in science.

    Next month, Third Thursday customer purchases will help benefit the Great Plains SPCA, a Kansas City animal welfare organization that promotes adoption, outreach, veterinary care, and a better life for pets and their owners.

    The Village at Briarcliff has a new boutique to add to it’s lineup of retail stores: Lillians.

    Lillians is a trendy and affordable ladies clothing and accessory boutique. The boutique creates an unforgettable shopping experience as each customer is greeted with coffee and treats, nostalgic music, and smiling, helpful associates.

    The Lillians franchise began in 2005 when two sisters opened the first store in Buffalo, Minnesota. They had an idea for a hip and chic shoppe that provided the ultimate shopping experience for women. The name Lillians was inspired by their Grandma Lillian, who taught them about giving and serving others.

    “I love that Lillians is a truly comfortable place to shop. Lillians fans love to come by just to hang out! I also love helping women feel good about themselves,” says Angie Leonhart, owner of Lillians of Kansas City.

    Leonhart has a passion for people and years of retail experience. She is supported by her husband, who built the racks, tables, and dressing rooms in the shoppe. Her daughter, an aspiring designer, creates the creative window displays. Lillians also has three part-time sales associates and a four-legged greeter named Jed.

    Lillians features trendy fashions, including: clothing, handbags, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, and other fun, “must have” accessories. Through unique vendor relationships, Lillians is able to offer high quality fashions at a reasonable price.

    In addition to great buys, the boutique offers “Diva Nights” for customers. “Diva Nights” are private shopping experiences where hostesses and their guests are able to preview and purchase the latest inventory and enjoy discounts, refreshments, massages, and makeovers to complement their shopping experiences. A portion of the sales are donated to the hostesses’ charity of choice.

    “I am so excited to be part of Briarcliff! I can’t wait to meet all our returning and new customers and show them our beautiful new space,” says Leonhart.

    Lillians will have a soft opening on Wednesday, June 15th and a Grand Re-Opening celebration on Saturday, June 18th from 10-7.  Join Lillian’s for the grand opening celebration featuring specials, refreshments, wine by KC Wineworks and live entertainment.

    What’s a piropo, you may ask? In Argentinian culture, it’s a flirtatious or poetic compliment to a woman.

    “If beauty were a sin, you’d never be forgiven.” 

    “I’m now sure there is a heaven, because I’ve seen an angel.”

    At Piropos Restaurant, guests are appreciated and delighted with great service, food, and a warm atmosphere driven by the passion for the culture of Argentina. Since 2006, Piropos has provided The Village at Briarcliff guests with a taste of Argentina, right here in Kansas City.

    Piropos is the creation of owner Cristina Worden and Head Chef Jesus Almos. The two combined their talents to create upscale food and service in a relaxing atmosphere, striving to offer guests a top-notch experience.

    The restaurant serves delicious Argentinian grilled meats, seafood, fresh salads, and vegetables, and features a complimentary beverage list. Each year, Worden visits her native city of Buenos Aires to learn new recipes, menu items, and food trends. She also frequently visits Argentina’s wine country of Mendoza. Since an early age, Worden has been interested in Argentinian cuisine. She continually strives to provide the latest, quality dishes for her guests.

    Almos brings extensive culinary experience to Piropos. For over 10 years, he has provided Piropos guests with fantastic meals and prior was employed at several KC restaurants including: Café Provance, Capital Grille, and Frondize’s. Almos left Piropos for over a year to operate his own small restaurant, Meat Market Lagos, where he became an expert in meat cutting and preparation. Three years ago, he returned to Piropos to help Worden develop and refine her Argentine recipes.

    In addition to great leadership, Piropos has many experienced servers who have a wealth of dining knowledge. The servers greatly compliment the experience, making Piropos guests their number one priority.
